自分で自分を偽る、あるいは周囲に流される。
自分を見失いつつある。
本当に大事なことは何か？
シンプルに考えろ。（それが私のやり方）
肉体は一つしかない。脳みそも一つしかない。
鉛筆と、消しゴムと、白い紙があれば、世界を創り出せる。
あわてるな。それは逃げない。
ただ念じればいい。

Tired and exhausted.
Lie to yourself and lose real self in crowds.
What is the most important thing?
Think simple.(That's my way)
There's only one body, and one brain.
With only a pencil and a piece of paper,
You can create a 'World'.
Don't be hurry. It won't leave.
Just pray and hope.

ここのところ、仕事もプライベートもいろいろあって、脳を酷使。（肉体はいつも限界）
左脳（というか理屈ばかり言うびびり）が早速悲鳴をあげた。
右脳（というか怠けてばかりの役立たずの芸術家気取り）の出番？
人生は長い。脳は全部使い切らないと。右脳にも働いてもらわないと。
もっと右脳に時間と金を投資しないと。
（俺の右脳は絵を描くぐらいしかできないから、安いもんだけどね）
なまった絵筆を手に取り、また最初からやりなおしです。

Right Brain (artiste just lazy and worthless) come into play?
Life is long. And use up all of the brain. Get right brain working.
To invest more time and money to right-brain.

画家ルシアン・フロイドが死去。
もちろん会ったこともなければ、
彼について書かれた本もちゃんと読んだことないけど。
でもその絵が持つ力・意味・時代は明確に感じる。
個と全体がどう向き合うべきかという、
芸術家にとっての基本的な命題に挑んだ人なのだと思う。
おもわず目をそらしたくなる「醜さ」にはまっていく。
日本の「カワイイ」とは対極にある「肉肉しい」えげつなさ。
こういう芸術家になりたいと思うが…これだけの「肉欲」は持ち得ない。

Painter Lucian Freud died at 88.
Of course never met him, nor have read a book about him.
But I clearly can see the power and the meaning in this era context.
I think he had engaged in the very fundamental and old question,
How should a individual expression confront to the social rules and limitations?
You can't take your eyes off ,once the 'Ugliness' of his pieces catch your soul.
It's on the very other end of Japanese 'Kawaii' fashion.
I actually hope to become such a painter...but this amount of 'lust for flesh', I can't have...

このひじついて考えているおっさんの絵を描いたのが約４年前。
このときの気持ち、このとき考えていたこと。それがつまっている。

元は小さな絵。手元にあった画用紙にちょこちょこ描いてみた。
誰に見せるためでもなく。ただ自分が共感できる何かを描きたかった。

※ちなみに元ネタがあって、それはバルテュスの絵にでてくるおっさん

それからいろいろあって４年がたって、
サイトも作って、いろんな人に絵を見せるようになって、大きな絵も描くようになって、
ある意味調子に乗っている。「自己実現」を追求できているようにも見える。
が、それでいいのか？

おっさんの絵を大きく描いてみた。
それなりにきれいに、伝わるように描けた。
出来には満足している。
でも、こめたメッセージは同じだ。
あくまで自分自身に向けて。
「調子に乗るな。どん底で考えたことを忘れるな」

Originally a small picture. I drew it on the cheap small paper at hand.
No intention to show to anyone.
I just want to drow someone with whom I could sympathize.

I drew again the man at the bottom.
On good paper, better technique...it could be satisfied with.
But the message is the same, Only for myself.

ゴールデンウィークは、どこにも行かずに、絵を描いてました。
大きい作品が描きたくなりました。
私の水彩画は、普通の紙だとだめで、一番いいのはステファンから送ってもらった、Kardi Paper というインドの水彩紙。http://www.khadi.com/
厚みがあって、表面が独特の自然な感じで、絵の具を多重に重ねていくことができる。
何でもインドでＴシャツをつくったあまりの布をパルプにして手漉きでつくっているそうな。
Ａ４の紙を無理やりつないで大きくしてみたが・・・失敗。
東京の和紙屋さんにも行ってみて、同じような紙を探してみたのだが、
いい紙はたくさんあるのだが、ぴったりなのはない。また、サイズもそれほど大きいのがない。
結局Kadhi Paperから直接買うことにしました。（意外と安い）
当面大きい作品を10枚ぐらい描くのが当面の目標です。
As I said, Golden Week Holidays in May is for me the time to regain the ambition for art and start something new.I started turning the small pieces that I have drawn into more big pieces. So I started... But its not easy.Especially, the quality of paper is a headache.
The papers that I've used now are what Stefan sent me from Vancouver.
These cotton papers are made in India, Kardi papers.http://www.khadi.com/
Made of the pulp cotton that comes from the useless cloth casted after the Indea factory made T-Shirts.
Actually, the quality of the paper is very good and my watercolor drawings are the best on them.
Unfortunately, the paper is not sold in Japan, So I tried other Washi-Papers of this kind. But none of them reached the quality of Kahdi ones. So I'll buy them from the company directly.
I try to create at least 10 big ones.That's my goal these days.

ここのところずっと忙しかった。
ゴールデンウィークで一旦リセットするのがいつものパターン。
体力の衰えは少しずつ感じつつ。
やるべきことはそう多くはない。
自分の野心と、周囲の期待。
絶えざる欲望と、能力の限界。
社会的な要請と、自我の執着。
すべてはバランスだ。
何かを始めよう。
乗り越えるには高すぎる。這い蹲るには低すぎる。
真ん中でとどまっているのではなく。
ただ始めよう。
Very busy I have been...but it's gone.
Re-setting in holiday, its a routine these years.
My physical strength is not well as used to be,
but not so much options for me to do.
Between my ambition and other's expectation.
Between my endless greed and limitation of my ability.
Between my attachment to self and social requirements.
It's all in the balance of these things.
Let's got starting something.
Not too high to get over, nor too low to get under.
Do not stuck in the middle.
Just start something.

というか何もしたくない。
正直逃げたい。
西へ、国の外へ、
体ごと逃げる人はまだましだ。
俺は弱いので、
心の中に逃げ込みたい。

自分ひとりの神を信じたい。

テレビをつけると、
困っている人がいる
それを助けようという人がいる。
俺は何もできない。
無力。

絵を描くぐらいしかできない。
本当にできない。
うーん。
だめだ。。。

いいか。。。

よく寝て。
よく食べて。
よく寝る。
そして絵を描く。

まずはそれを。
淡々とやろう。
なんと言われようと。
俺は俺でしかない。

かっこをつけてもしょうがない。
俺は俺にしかなれない。

The complicated systems don't work.
The decent people manage handling this situation.

People actually went out are not cowards.
I am a coward...want to escape into my mind.
Shut the door of mind, feel nothing.
I want to pray to my own god...

Turn the TV on,
Many many people in trouble
People who help them.
I can not do anything.
Powerless.

I can't do anything other than drawing.

Go on. . .

Sleep well.
Eat well.
Sleep well.
And some drawing.

Just do what I can do
With no feeling.

生誕100年だそうです。
15～16歳ぐらいのとき、彼の著作に衝撃を受けました。
初めて影響を受けた芸術家です。
死後もこれだけ影響を与え続ける人というのは、そういないです。
「芸術は爆発だ！」シンプルな、しかし深い芸術家です。
Feb 26 was 100th anniversary of artist Taro Okamoto's birth.
He is known for the 'Tower of sun' the simbolic statue of 1970's Expo held in Osaka, and his word 'Geijyutsu wa bakuhatsu da! (Art is Explosion!'.
His works and essays had a deep influence on me when I was 15-16.
Even after death his art and thoughts still keep throwing a big question to this comtemporary world.

とうとう36になってしまいました。
自分でケーキを焼いてみました。
はじめてスポンジケーキを作ったのですが・・・
卵の溶きが弱くて、ケーキが固く・・・
気温が暑すぎて、生クリームが固まらず・・・
こんな感じになりました。
でも美味しかったです。
家族他私を支えてくださる皆様。引き続きよろしくお願いいたします。

I made a sponge cake by myself & for myself, but...
Since I beated egg not enough so the sponge was a little hard,
And the temperature was too hot to whip the cream to be hard enough...
But the taste was good!

マルコム・グラッドウェル氏が気になってます。最近彼の「天才！」なる本を読んだのだが・・・すばらしい。天才とは何かという本ではなく、教育とは、成長するとはどういうことかという本。結構感動します。
彼は思いついたひとつのアイデアを言葉だけで豊かなイメージに展開するプロ。下の動画でもその才能が理解できます。スパゲッティソースについてオタク的に語りつつ、マーケティングの革新について語りつつ、「多様性」とは何かということまで考えさせてくれます。彼はジャマイカの血を引いているのだが、その容姿も魅力のひとつかと。妙な親近感を感じます。
I'm very interested about the auther & jounalist Malcolm Gradwell. I have read his book 'Outliers: The Story of Success'...It's wonderful! It's not only about what the 'genious' is...but about education and grouth. It's very moving.
He is a professional on creating an idea and deverop it into more rich images with only narrative. To watch following movie, you'll see his talent. Through self -refrecting twittering on 'spagetti souce', telling the paradime shift on marketing idea, he almost refer to the true meaning of Diversity.
Of Jamaican origin, his personal appearance is also very alluing and somehow give me the sense of intimacy.

先日描いたスケッチ。説明不要ですね。
仕事が忙しいというのもあるが、体力の低下を感じる今日この頃。
30を越えたあたりから時間がたつスピードが急加速した気がします。
あっという間に40・50になってしまいそう。
今できることは何か？十分に考えて行動します。

I really feel these days that my physical strength has become weaker,not just becouse of recent busyness...
The speed the time goes by has become accelareted since I surpassed 30yr old.
In a blink of an eye, I may become 40 and 50...
What can I do for this morment?

Gran Torino (Movie)

クリント・イーストウッド監督・主演の「グラン・トリノ」見ました。（レンタルDVD）うーん。すばらしい。感動するしかない。
下の予告編だとあまり伝わらないのですが…イーストウッドがよぼよぼなのに恐ろしくかっこよく、そしてリアルです。
アメリカの抱える課題、移民・貧困・教育・銃・宗教・高齢化・・・すべて盛り込んだ脚本は、ともすると表層的になってしまいそうですが、イーストウッドの存在感がそれにドラマとリアリティを与えています。
そしてさらにすばらしいのは、これが「ダーティハリー」「許されざるもの」と続く、『怒れるガンマン』の輪廻転生物語だということです。（火の鳥みたい）（ネタばれになりそうなのでここまで）
次回作「インビクタス」も観たくなりました。

I've just seen Clint Eastwoods' "Gran Trino" on DVD (Rental).
Wow! There's nothing to say about it...just I was really moved.
The official trailer doesn't tell much. The main role Eastwood is old...but unbelievablly cool and realistic.
Emigrants, Poverty, Education, Guns, Religion, Aging...every modern American problems are put into the movie,
Eastwoods' performance and presense barely helped the movie from being too much socially critical and explaining,
and gave it drama and reality.
More than that, it is the story of the 'Furious Gunman',the reincarnation of the cowboy in
"Dirty Harry" to "Unforgiven".(Well...I can't tell more...Should see it!)
I wanna see "Invictous"!

I saw the movie 'Avatar' at the end of last year.
Since I first saw 'Aliens' when I was in Junior high school, I have seen every movie of the director James Cameron, and I can say 'Avatar' is the best of his movie.
The movie already has become 'mega' hit, so I won't refer to the movie attraction.
Cameron, answering the interview of Japanese press, said "In 'Avatar', there is a scene that is hommage to Hayao Miyazaki's 'Princess MONONOKE'."
What part? I have found that when I saw 'Princess MONONOKE' on TV movie program the other day.
At almost end of 'Princess M', the Boars paintd each other with white mud like tatoo when they start to fight.
Almost the same sequence happens in the end of 'Avatar'. Please check it!
The best way to enjoy 'Avatar' is go to see it at 3D theater! (I guarantee it!)

年末にアバター（映画）見ました！
私は中学生のときに「エイリアン２」を見て以来、ジェームズ・キャメロン監督の映画は欠かさず見てきたのですが、この映画はまさにキャメロン監督の最高傑作です。
すでに全世界で評判になっているので、いまさらこの映画のすごいところを書くつもりはありませんが、一つだけ。
キャメロンは日本のマスコミのインタビューに答えて、「ミヤザキ（ハヤオ）の新作は必ず見ているよ。実は映画の最後に『もののけ姫』にオマージュをささげたシーンがあるんだ」と言っていました。
先日、テレビで放映していた「もののけ姫」を見てどのシーンか気づきました。
「もののけ姫」物語終盤、イノシシたちが戦いに行く前に、白い泥で体に模様をペイントするのですが…これと同じシーンがアバター映画の終盤にもでてきます！
ぜひチェックしてください！なおアバターは劇場、それも３Ｄでご覧ください！

いろいろ考えて・・・わかってきたこと。
・35にもなると、あまり新しいことは学べないということ。　
これまでやってきたことの延長上に私のやるべきことがあるということ。
・今後も確実に「これは続けられる」といえることは、
絵と英語、本を読むことと、考えたことをアウトプットすること。
・とりあえずは上記を軸にやっていきたい。

I think these things are sure.
-At already 35 yr old, I can't learn so much new things.
What I should do is what I have been doing till now.
-What I can say I can continue in future is,
Painting, Learning and Using English,
Outputing my thinking.
I want to make these things basic concept of my next life.
